We are on week two of genius hour so that means that I have been practicing more and more french. This week I did more of the same as last week but instead of trying to learn more words I was trying to perfect the words I had already looked at. In order to improve the words I have already looked at I put them on flashcards and just went through the cards putting the words i missed into a separate pile until I got all of them right then I would repeat the process two to three more times, After practicing the words for a bit I decided to go to Doulingo and practiced on some of the categorys they have. On Doulingo they have the words separated into category such as, basics which has words like, it, and, you, and nouns like, dog, boy, man, girl. woman, cat. from basics you can move on to category like greetings, travel, people, family, or activities. All in all nothing has really changed since last week as far as my process I am using to learn French goes. Next week I will probably go online and try and find other ways to learn French to expand on what I am doing already. I Cant wait to see where I will be next week with my French, Au Revoir (goodbye).

This week marks the beginning of genius hour or my 12 week long adventure trying to learn French. While I have messed around with French before we got officially started with genius hour to understand some words like, the, and, a , boy, man, woman, girl, and I. This was the week I truly began to step up from those easier words to some more complex words most of which are greetings such as Enchanté which means nice to meet you or salut which means hi. Some of the other things I looked at this week on Doulingo, a language learning app, were some of the lessons they had about verbs changing because of words before them or how some adjectives add an e to the end if the gender of the person is female. Another lesson was about words being both a question and an answer like ca va which means how are you or could it could mean I am fine. Once I had learned enough words on Doulingo I started to make sentences in French and check them in google translate to make sure they made sense. If you took the French sentences I made and translate them into English an example of this would be, bonjour comment ça va then I would take this sentence and put it into the translator and get hello how are you. The final thing I worked on this week with my French was mnemonics for words I struggled remembering the meanings of such as nuit or night in English. I remember this word because both start with an n and end with a t. My french so far has definitely improved from where it was last week which was just knowing the words mentioned at the beginning of the article. I look forward to seeing what all I can learn next week and all the other weeks in this project. Just this week alone was pretty fun working on my French throughout the week and discussing mnemonics with Malachi.
