This is it the final week of genius hour and as far as this week goes I was able to finish module two up in Doulingo, which is good, but my original goal was to get through three modules and that didn't happen because I wanted to make sure I was prepared for the trip to France, Because making sure I was prepared for France was my main goal, with the modules more of a side goal. As far as the project is as a whole I am very happy with how far I have come with my French from only knowing bonjour to according to Doulingo learning one thousand plus words it makes me feel proud. I still do not know what I want to present for my project presentation but I cant wait to show people some of the things I have learned and some experiences I have from being in France.

For genius hour this week I signed up for the seven day free trial for Doulingo. After using it for a week my thoughts are that Doulingo premium is super nice. It gives you unlimited lives so if you mess up a lot it doesn't matter. You can also download lessons to do if you do not have access to wifi. Doulingo premium has a quiz you can take to measure your process so far and I took the quiz and I didn't do to well on it with a .4 for my score, so there is some work to be done that I can sort out next week, which is fine. With my project as a whole coming to a close with next week being the last week I am pretty happy with how far I have come with my french despite my poor score on that quiz. until next week goodbye.
As far as my project goes this week has been the same as all of the others except I didn't spend as much time as I should of on genius hour because I had been trying to catch up on missed school work, but I hope to make up that missed time next week where ill try out the free trial of Doulingo premium which is a 7 day time span where I can do lessons with unlimited lives. This weeks post was pretty short, but there really wasn't much to talk about so depending on how far I get with Doulingo premium then maybe there will be more for me to say.
A bit late on this blog post because I got home from the airport at around nine pm yesterday, and instantly fell asleep. The trip as a whole was great. London was cool there was a four story M&M store and a massive Lego store, but this project is not about London its about learning French and using that french in Paris. The people in Paris spoke French ridiculously fast. On the metro I could hardly understand the announcer because of how fast he spoke. The other thing is how everyone looked at me and wouldn't give me a chance at speaking to them in french. In restaurants the waiter would look at my group and start speaking in English it was the same thing in any stores we went into too. Overall it was kind of a bust except saying pardon to people on the metro so they would move and I could get off the train, and when some one asked if we had gotten our orders for food in french and I said oui or yes in English. I said merci which is thank you and bounjor a few times but that was it for me speaking french. there were signs and advertisements in french that I was able to read, and that was it for French in Paris. Except for not being able to use Fench a lot the trip was fun and I would love to back. That is it for this post see you next week.
This week I have been making final preparations before I go to Europe. No Doulingo because I have to get the flash card words down pat and there is no need to add more words on top. I really look forward to going to France and will get some photos and maybe conversations in Europe for next weeks blog post but the conversation part depends on what the tour guides are like.
This week I have been practicing the words and phrases I need so I will be able to ask people in Paris where things like the bathroom are. I have been practicing this week by flash cards mostly and even less Doulingo than last week because now is especially not the time to learn new words. I cant wait to see what all there is in Paris and ill take photos and post them on my week 9 blog.
My trip to France is coming up soon so I have to make sure I remember the words I have learned in Doulingo. What better way to do this than with flashcards. I mentioned things about flashcards in my genius hour project pitch but never got around to using them because I have been trying to learn new words, but now I feel like I have learned enough words so I should make sure I know them and remember them by using flashcards because flashcards make things easier to remember for me. Doulingo took a backseat this week because when you are trying to remember things its definitely not smart to add things on top of that. Thats all for this week see you guys later.
Last week I talked a lot about how I was behind schedule or where I wanted to be. This week I tried my hardest to catch up to where I wanted to be last week and do a little bit more. I want to say I feel like I was able to catch up and It is definitely a good feeling to have caught up but I definitely do not want to fall behind again. Week three I said every three weeks I wanted to be through a checkpoint but for next week because its the week before I go to France. I think I will be instead trying to make sure I have the words I have already learned memorized and practice my articulations of the words. Until next week I am signing off.
This week was pretty much the same as its always been, I did some Doulingo and made some notes on things I struggled with this week. Unfortunately I was unable to spend as much time as I have in past weeks with Doulingo, so I am definitely behind where i would like to be going into week 5 which is through 5 categories in module 2. I guess next week ill just have to devote more time to genius hour, so I can try and catch up to where I would like to be. I look forward to see what all I can learn next week and see if I can catch up, but until then goodbye.
In doulingo they have checkpoints which are essentially language tests to see if you meet the criteria to move to the next section of language learning. I was able to pass the French checkpoint number one this week which is what I spent most of my time working on. I am pretty happy about it and completing this checkpoint gives me a more clear set of goals. the goal is every three weeks I want to pass a checkpoint test so I can move on to new skills. We will have to see if I will be able to keep up with this goal but I think I will be able to do it and be fine.
